Introduction

Taiwan's gift and stationery industry has developed on a steady pace in recent years. In addition to constantly introducing relevant technology from abroad, manufacturers have also persistently upgraded product quality and design while increasing sales of products with their own brand. As a result, the export performance of gifts and stationery has been remarkable all these years.

Although Taiwan's gift and stationery industry has developed relatively late, the growth rate has been exceptionally outstanding. With the efforts of manufacturers, it has laid a good foundation. Despite of the fact that the industry is faced with the competition of mainland China, Hong Kong, South Korea and Southeast Asian countries, Taiwan still retains certain advantage in style of product design and quality control. So it is still holding an important position in the impression of buyers in Europe, U.S., and Japan.

As the gift and stationery industry is a maturing industry, its market is easily affected by macroeconomic factors such as overall economic development, national income, and growth of the population. Nowadays, as the overall economic development has developed and national income has increased, consumers demand for products is not limited only to their practicality, but also the quality and design have become main factors affecting their purchase decisions. Guided by market trend, Taiwan's gift and stationery industry has gradually marched toward the creation of high value-added industry.

In order to help manufacturers explore markets, Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) holds Taipei International Gift & Stationery Spring and Autumn Shows every year. These two shows are major yearly events for Taiwan manufacturers. TAITRA also enlists the help of its overseas branches to launch extensive publicity campaigns aimed at soliciting foreign buyers to visit and make purchases in these two shows.
